Sharing Materials with Students

It's now possible to share materials from the Social-Emotional Learning Platform with your students - no student account needed!

6 STEPS


 1  The first step is to open Social Learning Platform - Everyday Speech and click on the material you want to send as homework.

 3  You will receive this pop-up to Assign material & send to student(s).

 4  Click Copy Link. It's important that you use this Yellow button to copy the link. This link contains a unique code that links to the teachers account.

 5  The link will be copied to your clipboard. You can paste this unique shareable link to any communication tool for your students to view.

To share a piece of material, simply click the button labeled Send as Homework on any material in the platform under the Social Communication Curriculum. You can find this button in the Browse All Materials view, on your Saved Lists or on the Material itself.


When you click this button, you will receive a unique link that will allow the student to open the material and view it at home. 

You can share this link with the student via Email, Google Classroom or any other communication tool. 




Sharing the link

You will only be able to share this link with students by clicking the yellow Copy Link button. Copying the URL from the browser will not share the link, as this code given is a personalized link that is attached to the teacher's account. 


My Classroom Overview

In the newest version of the Social-Emotional Learning Platform, we've introduced a My Classroom tab in your dashboard.


Clicking on My Classroom will bring a list of 3 tabs: My Students & Groups, My Assignments and Saved Lists.


My Students & Groups

Organize your classroom by assigning material to specific students. You will be able to see a list of all your students and assign them material individually, or in a group. You can create group profiles and assign students to each group.

My Assignments

You can now share materials with students directly without having them create an account. 


When your student(s) open the link you have shared with them, they can view the material and then report that they have completed it by entering their first name and last initial. 

For each link you share, you can get a report of the names of the students who have completed the assignment. This could be as few as 1 student or as many as entire class or grade level. If you have a Student Profile created for the students who respond, the names will be automatically matched and the material will be added to the student’s watch history.

Saved Lists

All material that you saved will go under your Saved Lists. This is where you store your go-to pieces of content for easy access. 



Navigating Through My Assignments

The My Assignments feature allows you to view all materials that have been shared with your students.


This feature allows you to:

  • View all assignments sent to students to complete
  • View the date and time (in your local time) the material was shared
  • Confirm that students have completed the assignment
  • See the date that students completed the assignments

8 STEPS


 1  The first step is to log in to the Social Learning Platform - Everyday Speech.

 4  Here you will see all Your Shared Materials.

 5  You will see the date and time you shared this material.

 6  You can scroll through to find and check on material you've previously shared. The shared materials are sorted by the users local date and time.

 7  Click on the drop down tab on the material you want to view.

 8  Here you can check if and when your students have completed the material.

Completing A Send Home Assignment

Once you have shared materials with students, students can now click on the shared link to complete their homework!

 1  The first step is to open the unique shareable link sent by the teacher.

 2  You will not be able to click on "FINISH ASSIGNMENT & MARK AS COMPLETE" until the material has been viewed.

 3  Click on the material to view it.

 4  Once you have viewed the material, a pop up will prompt you to MARK ASSIGNMENT AS COMPLETE.

 7  Click MARK AS COMPLETED.

When the student receives the link and opens it, they will have direct access to the material. With no need to create an account, your student can open this link on a computer or tablet which will look like this: 

After the student completes the material, they should click the button that says Finish Material and Mark as Complete. This button is not available unless the student is in the final 10 seconds of the video, has downloaded the activity or has opened the game.

When the student clicks this button, they will be prompted to enter their first name and last initial. This information will be reported back to you, so make sure you encourage students to do this when they finish assignments.

Limited Student Access

Students will only have access to the material you shared, with no ability to navigate to other materials or elsewhere in the Social-Emotional Learning Platform. If you want to share multiple materials, we recommend you send multiple links, with one for each material. 



Creating A Student Profile in My Classroom

You can now easily track your student's viewing history with Student Profiles! Now you no longer need to manually write down each piece of content that you've worked on with a student.

Editing Student Profiles in My Classroom

Made a typo or need to edit a student's name in their profile? You can easily edit this using the Edit Student Name function in My Classroom!

Click Edit Student Name.

After making your changes in editing the student's name, click Confirm.

Deleting A Student Profile in My Classroom

No longer need a certain student profile in your account? You can delete the profile using the Delete Student function in My Classroom!

Click on the Option icon for the student profile you want to delete.

Click Delete Student.

Click Confirm. Note that the action cannot be undone, and that you cannot retrieve any student history linked to the profile.


The student profile will now be deleted. You can always create a new student profile if you'd like to recreate the student profile.

Creating A Group in My Classroom

Need to organize your student profiles into groups? That's possible with the My Groups feature in My Classroom!

 1  The first step is to open Social Learning Platform - Everyday Speech and click My Classroom

 7  Click the students you would like to add to the group.

 9  You have now created a group!

Scroll down and click the group you've created

 10  This will open up a page where you can see who is in the group, or you can add new students in the group.

Click on My Classroom at the top, and navigate to My Students & Groups.

This will bring you to the dashboard for your student profiles. 

To create a new group, click on New Group Profile.

Enter the group name and click Next Step.

Select the students to be assigned to a group. If you haven't created a student profile yet, you can click on Add a new student. 

When you're done selecting students, click on Create Group. You can also create a group without assigning any students yet. You can always add students later.

You should now see a list of all your students and the groups you've assigned them in.


Adding Students to a Group in My Classroom

Want to organize your students into a class or group? You can do that with the Add Student to Group feature in My Classroom!

 5  Click the students you want to be assigned, or search their name in the Search bar.

Alternatively, you can click the dropdown next to their name.

Click on My Classroom on the navigation bar, and navigate to My Students & Groups.

This will bring you to the dashboard for your student profiles and groups.

You can add students individually by clicking the Option icon next to their name on the Student Profile side. Click Add Student to Group.

If you have not created any groups yet, a popup will appear prompting you to create a group.

If you have already created a group, select the group that you want to add the student to. Click Save.

You can also add students to a group by clicking on the Option icon beside the group name. 

Click Add/Remove Students from Group.

You can individually select each student you want to put in the group, or you can search the student's name in the list. Once you're finished selecting, click Save.

You should now see the students you have assigned to the group!

Editing A Group Name in My Classroom

Need to make any changes to a group profile's name? You can easily do this by Editing A Group Name in My Classroom!

A popup will appear prompting you to change the group name.

No longer need a Group Profile? You can remove a group profile from your account through the Delete Group feature in My Classroom.

Once you start typing, it will bring up all the relevant students, or groups. 


You can then make any changes by clicking the Option icon or clicking the profile to view its page.


Viewing All Materials A Student or Group Has Completed

We've now made it possible for you to track materials that your student has completed! With student and group profiles, you can check the viewing history right within your account.

Removing Materials From A Student Profile

Accidentally added the wrong piece of material to your student's or group's viewing history? Not a problem - you can remove material from your student's profile or viewing history!

 1  The first step is to log in to the Social Learning Platform - Everyday Speech.

 6  Find the material you want to remove from the viewing history. Click the blue dotted circle.

Modifying Date Seen in A Student Profile

Need to change the date your student completed their assignment or viewed a piece of material? You can with the Modify Date Seen feature in My Classroom!

Click on My Classroom on the navigation bar, and navigate to My Students & Groups. 

This will bring you to the dashboard for your student profiles.

After clicking on the student's profile, you will be able to see all the materials they have viewed, sorted by content type, title, date seen and actions you can take. Click on the Option icon, and then click Modify Date Seen.

Here, you will be able to Modify the Date Seen for a piece of material. Click Save to continue.

You will now be able to see the previous date the student viewed the material, and the modified date!



Sharing the Same Homework Link

Looking to share the same homework link that you've already sent out, or simply forgot which material you recently shared? You can easily view the materials that you sent out as homework in My Assignments!


When you click Send as Homework, this will regenerate a new unique code to share material with your students every time. If you want to retrieve the same link that you had previously sent out for multiple students to access, you will have to access this through Your Shared Materials in My Assignments.

7 STEPS


 1  The first step is to open your curriculum in Everyday Speech.

 2  Click on My Classroom.

 3  Click My Assignments

 4  Here you can view Your Shared Materials.

Step 4 image

 5  Click Copy Link on the material you want to share again. This will give you the same link that was shared previously.

 6  The material is now Copied to clipboard.

 7  Now you can paste this link in any communication tool for your students to view the same material that was sent out before. That's it. You're done.

Click on My Classroom on the navigation bar, and navigate to My Assignments.

On this page, you will be able to see Your Shared Materials. These are the materials that you have Sent As Homework.


Under each piece of material that you have shared, you will see the students that have completed the material, as well as the date and time that the material was shared at. 


Click on the Copy Link button beside the link that you have previously shared with other students. Once other students have completed this material using this same shared link, their names will show up here as well.
